PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMS & DANCE THEATRE WORKSHOPS
Cindy Claes Productions offers unique Training Programs for dancers, choreographers, artists, theatre practicitonners and performers who wish to find new sources of inspiration and techniques to develop their skills.
Cindy started within the industry as a street dancer. The only jobs which she thought were available to her were everything related to the commercial world. Whilst the commercial sector took her through many disappointments, she slowly discovered the world of Hip hop Theatre. A whole new world opened up, she became an artist who could say something, make audiences think, explore more of herself as a performer and as a choreographer/director.
Theatre and Dance Storytelling allowed her to tackle subtle political topics and talk about touching relationships. Using Street Dances in Theatre opened up a new world to her and it was truly life changing. Cindy felt she could express herself creativelly using different avenues. She was able to make a living from her art from, create jobs for herself and others, and truly make a difference.
Hip hop Theatre, Dancehall Theatre and Krumping Theatre empowered her so much, she wanted to share her passion with others. The company is dedicated to deliver high quality training programs for emerging and established artists to grow and set foot outside of their comfort zones.
I happen to have met many Theatre practicitoners along my path. I worked with Hip hop Theatre makers, Theatre Directors and genuine creative beings who had so much to offer and who inspired me deeply. Little by little I gathered a a more in-depth understanding about the art of using Dance in Theatre. I never studied Dance or Theatre academically, I created a tool box by working in the field and observing others at first. I then created my own shows, I learned by trying things out, sometimes I did well, sometimes it didn’t. I learned by making mistakes. Passionate about improving my acting and storytelling skills, I went off to NYC for three months. I trained intensivelly in Improv’ and studied at the Library analysing books written on screenwriting. I took Creative Writing classes in London, as well as Comedy Writing. I did everything I could to learn, read, observe. As a Street Dancer, I am aware not everybody has the chance to access these experiences. But as it has drastically changed my life, and as it has allowed me to fulfill my dreams, I want to pass it on to others. I set up a series of professional development programs for street dancers and artists who might not have access to this type of training. These programs are about empowerement, growth and dreams coming true.
